You can find a Rubies made Boba or Jango helmet for less then $100 alot of the times on Ebay. You just have to sand it down and repaint it.

Actually, look on ebay for a fiberglass fett helmet. I got mine on there for $95 with shipping included. Mine's a mystery helmet. Also, make sure you read the fine print when buying off of ebay. Make sure that you are not bidding on the riddell helmets (too small to wear) or a book on making a fett helmet.

How much of a size difference is the mystery helmet versus the Rubies helmet if any?

You can look for better details by googling the size difference. Pretty much the Rubies is a bit smaller and will warp on you if you don't take the precautions. If you have a small head, I'd go for the Rubies. A lot of people will put down the Rubies for it's "imperfections", but if you're making a custom, of course, it doesn't matter. Rubies helmets can look real nice after a good time of work has been put into them. If you know Big Jon, he's a good example.
