I think it is a good thing that finally we have started to bring down those who wish to end our nation of "free choice" and I think in the next eight months the head of the Al-Qida will be brought to justice and all those misled fools below him will either fall in military strikes or in the courtrooms.

I may be a bit off on the time line but this is my pov, and like the Marines say "If you want peace prepare for war" it is true and history has shown it and it will always be true as long as there is someone who wishes to run dominion over someone else there will always be the need to war for freedom either for ourselves or our forigne brothers and sisters.

I was sent this in myspce, and I will say it brought tears to my eyes, Tahnk you to all the men and women that are there and those who have died to keep the people they don't know alive.

If you don't think the war in Iraq is necessary look at it this way.
If they weren't there the the few of us still alive after the world terror group that conquered your country would stick you in a small cold room and make you wait until they were ready to execute you for having a different religous view from theirs, they wouldn't be nice they wouldn't ask to see things the way you do, they wouldn't care if you were scared or not, they would care if you had children or a husband or wife, they would simply say "the ones you love will follow you to death shortly" and either shoot you, hang you, throw you under a tank, or shove a knife through your neck and saw your head off.

I know this is a violent portrail but after what they have done already I think if the Geneva Convention said f*** the rules nuke the whole lot of them then the war would have ended on 01/01/03 and the war in Iraq would be a simple little get together to shoot the remaining stragglers.

Again this is just my point of view and as this goes on I feel more and more like taking the terrorist groups and throwing them in a hole with things like a cougar, grizzly bear, great white sharks, tigar sharks, cobras, vipers, very poisonous things and things that would rip them apart , I feel this would be proper since they kill indiscrimanantly and if they feel blowing themselves up will get them in to Allahs grace.

I served my country for over 12 years (currently not playing war games) and lost friends and have had mixed emotions over the whole "War on Terror". I joined in the mid-80's and the war on terror had been in force for a half a decade and yet here we are still fighting the same enemies. I believe that it is just and right but that the leadership has varying ideas on how to win the war.

I tend to think it cannot be won at all. Not that it shouldn't be fought, of course, because as you said, it's quite right and just to fight terrorists. However, to win a 'War on Terror', you'd have to eliminate terrorism forever, wouldn't you? And human nature, I don't think, would allow that to happen. Even if you kill every last mother's son of them, more would appear. It's part of the human condition.

Therefore, I would set more realistic goals for this 'War on Terror'... like the elimination and disbanding of individual, particularly threatening terrorist groups, like Al-Qaeda, which is most quickly accomplished by hunting down the leaders. Cut the head off the snake, and all that. That's just my personal take on it.

Oya Manda!

I couldn't agree more with you, Kire. It really bugs me to hear war being declared on intangible things. Setting specific goals is a nice way to put how the problem could be approached. These "War on..." lines are just ploys to boost ratings and piss us off, cause we all know everyone's out to get us.

No doubt these War on terror should be changed to the war on various terrorist groups, but as long as humans exist who do not subscribe to the same thought terrorism will exist, since we focus on al qaeda in Iraq its funny that the government made a statement that most of these terrorists have been eliminated. One group in many, these being the overtly violent terrorists that exist. The door is still open to cyber terrorism through malignant computer viruses and such, I was involved in the War on Drugs in South America and that is a losing battle as well. The government needs to focus on what it needs to prevent these things from happening and being prepare instead of fighting a rather faceless enemy since although we may disrupt on group there are 10 more waiting to take its place on the map. well thats just from opinion and experience.

Well I have also served my country for 15 years and would have been longer but got injured while over in Iraq in 2005 and since then, the military has thrown me away, they didn't want me anymore since I can't carry the load anymore, but I still love my country and I don't think this will be a war we can win, we are winning a few battles, but the ultimate outcome will be disaster, because you can't trust any of the people we are fighting for over there. We train them and then they try and kill us with the tactics we train them with. The middle east has been fighting since the time of Jesus and not the greatest army on the earth now isn't gonna do anything to change them.

I hope I don't sound like I'm bashing my country because I love it with all my heart. I have shed blood for it and would do it again if called.

God Bless the USA

Well I'll get right to the point, We don't scare these guys too much, yes we are the most powerful nation today, we have the largest guns, the most advanced weapons deployable, but what is holding us back, I feel, is our regard to respect the new 'rule of engagement' it's pointless to think we can stableize things there. Personally I agree with a lot of you, it's hard to win this war because they know no borders. I think the best thing is to solidify our own defenses and put more spooks out there to find all those terrorist cells, infiltrate and destroy them, even if its one by one it's better then a gorilla war where we are always getting hit but can't hit back.
