Great new book by Karen Traviss, author of the Republic Commando series and the two Legacy of The Force seris books BLOODLINES, and INFERNO.

Karen Traviss has been the champion of Mandalorian culture through her writings and has just produced another gem with RC: True Colors. I just finished it and it explores the complexities of war and how these soldiers begin to see the Republic for which they have been PROGRAMMED to to serve. Throughout the book, many of these clones that have become character staples throughout the series begin to question the Republic. Their loyalty to Kal Skirata becomes even more unshakable while their faith in their Supreme Chancellor begins to wane. Even a certain Jedi ally of our Mando'ade resigns from the Jedi Order. It's a great book ... pick it up. If you haven't already.

I recently travelled with my wife and daughter to Philly for a Thanksgiving roadtrip, and wouldn't you know it? I didn't think to pack ny entertainment for myself. So I picked up a copy of True Colors at a mall in Virginia. Devoured that book in a heartbeat. Loved every second of it.

My only annoyance? Let's get Karen to stop writing Legacy novels so she can give us more than one Commando book a year! Now in all fairness, I haven't read any of her Legacy stuff (I dislike Star Wars too far in the future since it seems is that its the same old thing repackaged), does she do a lot of Mando work in them?

I would have to agree with you about the repackaging of the saga. The Legacy series does seem like The Clone Wars all over again to a certain poitn. She does, however, revisit Boba Fett and deals with how he's taking on the postion of Mandalore, and how he's bringing the Mandalorians to the Galactic forefront. The Legacy series is a good read. I have read them all, and I'm not disappointed in them. But, you're right that the story is kind of recycled.
